A love letter is written by hand ink on paper. The best is give her the letter yourself but it could take a bit of courage and perhaps a bit risky in the beginning. Valentines day or her birthday is the perfect excuse. Remember the main idea is to make her feel good about herself and very special.
A girl's stationary is a light pastel soft colour purple for passion or a shade of yellow might mean faithfulness and patience while pink is affection and gentleness. A hint of perfume and a little ribbon too or a lock of hair is a nice touch and even with red lipstick kisses.
For guys too a card, made yourself is best as is with anything else. Need not make excuses just tell her you like her, you love her. And remember a bit of humour could lighten the mood don't come over too strong and scare her don't rush.
A small little poem your own would be even better. The writing itself is also important obviously and you must do it in your own hand. A black ink pen for a more serious mood and soft blue a bit more light-hearted. Don't start every sentence with “I” it is very poor style.
Don't tell her what you think of her mother lie if you must. Never speak of any ex's. Ever. Avoid the subject at all cost but be careful it is every man's dream to be his wife's first love, women are much more subtle she wants to be his last.

A very good idea classy is Turkish delight or perhaps nougat. Candy is dandy, coconut ice peppermint crisp and caramel fudge. Or something a bit more exotic like halva is divine. Obviously with some discretion for the fuller figure.
If you are in a hurry try alcohol it works much faster it depends on your kind of girl. Fortified wine, sherry or brandy and coke or chocolate liqueur and gin, cane or vodka, and 100 proof or 98 octane all of it works. Whatever fits your pocket.
Flowers are always a great idea, traditionally roses. The colour would depend on the girl and the occasion. Yellow is devotion and truthfulness, red being romantic love and white is peace. Pink could be gentleness and intimacy. There are many colours, however you wish and depending what you did wrong. Valentine's is as good an excuse as any for holding hands and kissing, hushed whispers and panflute eating out in style in an expensive restaurant or a grand buffet breakfast.

Of course hand-written gives warmth and glow to personal letters and such as a birthday or anniversary card. These should be planned well in advance for obvious reasons, start at the date you last forgot this is crucial. Failure is fatal. Check your calender Now! They will be in abject misery for weeks refusing to tell you why just waiting for the right moment for the kill. And then next year it's even worse when you just thought it's over at last, but this time she's miserable moping and sulking in anticipation weeks in advance already and you don't know why. Yes, illogical I know. Don't sabotage yourself.
Typical rejection comes with no warning at all shouting like crazy over the telephone and carrying on and swearing at you or something really nasty and burning all your letters in public. Your emails and sms's sent all over for all the world to see. She had her chance. These types usually would be of sub-average intelligence anyway.

Don't feel shy Napoleon himself wrote love letters to Josephine every day while making omelettes in the slaughter on the battlefields of Europe.
Very soon pen & paper will be a lost art and an attractive writing all the more special, most handwriting will be crude like a little child crayon in fist imitating the letters on the screen. For official documents a hand signature might be with us for a long time.
The bottom line, you must always make your girl feel wanted, beautiful and cherished. Unfortunately on occasion sometimes this means you'll have to lie. Don't feel too bad about it just a small white lie and no-one has to know. It's love that makes the world go round. Maybe one day the ship comes in and dreams come true. No harm in wishing in waiting for a certain special someone.

"Don't tell her what you think of her mother lie if you must." lol. Words to live by, Tom. Wise words, in general, and an enjoyable read. Keep well. Paul
