Mind's eye Picasso

I've got a picture of you in my head
That I've pieced together from memory.
You surely weren't around for long enough
For me to see you to eternity.
You left me before I knew enough.
You escaped before the morning sun.
I would hold you in my heart forever more,
But you didn't leave me enough to go on.
You've left me all alone with these strangers,
Who say that they love me, but it's all lies.
I want back what I never really had,
But it's too far away to hear my cries.
A blurred image of you in my minds eye
Looks more like Picasso than what it should.
I would if I could, but I can't at all,
If only, for once, the world understood.
Just to see you once would be all I need,
All I could ask for till the end of time.
The cock crows, dawn flips up a golden coin,
I still don't know you, everything's the same.
They say "You've got us, don't worry about that",
But I do, it holds my mind captive at night.
Don't want to be different, just to be loved,
Is that so unreasonable, out of sight?
The other kids point, whisper, "She's so weird",
"Her parents didn't love her, so they're gone",
"She says that who she's with ARE her parents",
I just want to be normal, is that wrong?
