Winter

Icy fingers and frozen toes,
Chattering teeth and heavy clothes.
Wind that howls at night and snow that shines,
Winter that I've seen so many times.
The intricate patterns of frost,
Early darkness making you lost.
Hidden away inside by the fire,
Watching the flames leap ever higher.
Red noses and cheeks flushed with pink,
Laughter from the ice skating rink.
Although the weather is cold &; dark,
Inside, the summer sun warms our hearts.
Lovers snuggled up in blankets,
Sharing memories and trinkets.
Sipping hot chocolate, safe and warm,
Waiting for when the Spring will be born.
Seasons come and then seasons pass,
Spring brings flowers and fresh green grass.
Yet, for no particular reason,
Winter is my favourite season.
