The House

As I wandered through the forest on a really dark night,
I came into a clearing to find a comforting sight.
There on it's own was a great big wooden house,
So I crept up it's path, all quiet as a mouse.
The roof was thatched &its doors were black,
So I kept on creeping till I got round the back.
Where I tried really hard not to scrunch and shuffle,
But it wasn't a sound i could easily muffle.
Peeping through a window I spied a rocking chair,
Sat upon it was a lady with long grey spindly hair.
She was, swaying back and forth with some crotchet on her lap,
And beside her, near a fire, was a cat curled up for a nap.
Looking round the room, there was a table all laden with food,
I thought, to leave it all uneaten, would seam incredibly rude.
So, seeing that the window was slightly ajar,
I reached in, really grateful it wasn't too far.
But as I reached over, that's when I was caught out,
And the lady stood up and let out a big shout.
What have I told you, time after time,
You wash your hands when you eat around mine.
Yes Grandma!
