My memories of Highfield.
Go back so many years.
In Midwood Street we had no phone.
And a car that had no gears.
On that night in Lugsdale Road.
In a callbox cold and black.
"The Birth is near" I heard the voice.
There was no going back.
When I got up to that old home.
So drunk and out of breath.
The sight of my young daughter.
Frightened me to death.
Lying in that basket.
Looking far from frail.
But on Valetines day.
On your Birthday.
Im still here to tell the tale.
