When I lived in London, mum and dad came to visit. We went too see the film “24/7 “when we left the theater I was upset at the ending where Bob Hoskins character dies. My mother reminded me not to be sad as his life had affected others for the better, in the movie and so with his death all was not lost, even though he did not deserve his untimely end.
In the film “meetings with remarkable men”,a simalar sentiment is expressed Warren Mitchell’s character states “I do not believe the soul lives on after death, but if we live wisely something of us dieds much later".Our affect is still felt in the hearts of others.
On playing the song “North Country boy” by the charlatans to my son this morning I remembered this cherished memory of my mothers wise words. It is a song featured in the movie 24-7, so it is with my memory, some times it just needs a little
prompt. Wise thoughts can often be in accord with strong emotions.
