Judgement

If tomorrow ends with the break of day
And life disintegrates into dust.
Can you stand with your head unbowed
And swear you've never betrayed a trust?
Can you honestly state before the creator of life
As well as the man next door
That you've loved you fellow brother;
Black, white, rich man and poor?
Will you answer your name in judgement
With proud declaration or -
Will you cower in a corner
As you reflect all that you've done before?
What we do here and now
Is not pure pursuit of me.
We need to reach past the glory
And our inbred insanity.
This is our world, our time
And, at the end of each day, we need to ensure
That if judgement arrives in our lifetime
We have nothing to apologise for.
