THE FACES I KNEW BUT THE NAMES I DIDN’T

I met them at my school,
I met them at my work place,
They recognized me and so did I.
But just to say hi.
But then, they called me and I remembered,
I never knew their name.
Aa-O, I never knew their name!
They gave me their description,
And asked- Are you following your Doctor’s prescription?
I didn’t reply and scanned through my memory
And I recognized them, finally.
Oh sure you are, they say answering, to their own query.
Though they think me to be a psycho,
But what could I do,
I never knew their name.
Aa-O, I never knew their name!
I often bump into them,
And I do recognize them.
But then they ask- “what happened to you over the phone?”
And I tell them- I never knew your name,
Aa-O I never knew your name!
They laugh it off and tell me their name,
I try to remember it but I can’t,
Finally I say- “What’s in a name”!
I often bump into them,
I often talk to them.
But when it comes to the name,
I say- Aa-O I never knew your name.
I tried a lot,
But then I finally stopped.
Because know they had understood,
It’s the face that matters and not the name,
“What’s in a name”
