Along time ago, in the Kingdom of Navarre, a mother with 3 daughters called Haroldine, Jessipha and Judiette died and left her daughters 3 boxes with instructions in her will that each daughter was to choose a box and take whatever was found in it.
Fortunately for Haroldine, the eldest daughter, she picked a box with gold in it and was very pleased then the middle daughter, Jessipha picked a box and, luckilly, hers was a box containing silver and she was happy too but when the youngest daughter Judiette took her box and opened it, to her dismay, she saw that there was nothing in it but 3 lucky charms, a horseshoe, a rabbits foot and a four leaf clover.
And whats worse, Judiettes two older sisters were so mean and greedy that they refused to share any of their money with her and instead kicked her out of their mothers house with nothing but the clothes she wore and the box of lucky charms.
And so poor Judiette was forced to wander like a beggar, not knowing what might become of her.
As she was wandering through a forest, however, she came across a white horse that only wore three horseshoes.
"I have a horseshoe you could wear", she said, joking, to the horse reaching into her box and taking out the horseshoe goodluck charm her mother had left her, "If there was a farrier or blacksmith who could fit it to your hoof".
But then, suddenly, to Judiettes amazement the horse reached out its shoeless hoof and her horseshoe, glowing brightly, magically fitted itself upon it.
Then, even more amazingly, the horse spoke.
"I am a magic horse. My name is Charger and whoever gives me a horseshoe is my master", it said.
Then it asked Judiette to climb upon its back and said it would take her anywhere she asked to go.
But Judiette wasn't sure where she could go because she was destitute and had no money for lodgings and so she just asked Charger to take her somewhere where she could find some shelter from wind and storm, so then the horse flew as fast as a feather floats upon the wind to a cave at the forests edge.
Inside the cave however Judiette found a rabbit that had a missing foot.
"Poor little creature", she said, taking the rabbits foot lucky charm out of her box, "I have a rabbits foot but I dont know how I would attach it to your injured leg".
All of a sudden, however, the rabbits foot glowed brightly and then, magically, attached itself to the rabbits leg so that now it had four feet and when that happened the rabbit, leaping up, turned into a handsome young man in fine clothes of white velvet.
"Oh thank you so much. I am the Duke D'Orsay. An evil impostor; a wizard, making himself look like me, took away my ancestral home and turned me into a rabbit, then he removed one of my feet and told me that the spell would never be broken unless my foot was replaced. You have broken the spell and so I will always be grateful to you", said the man.
But then the Duke said he had to return to his home and reclaim it from the impostor who had displaced him and Judiette told him that he could ride there upon her magic horse so the Duke got upon the magic horse and Judiette got on behind him and they flew through the air, as fast as a flame leaps upon the wind, until they reached his home, a large mansion made of gold.
Unfortunately when they arrived and dismounted from the horse the impostor, seeing them from a window of the house came running out armed with a sword and shield to kill the Duke.
"What shall I do?", asked the Duke, "I am unarmed".
Judiette reached into her box and took out the last of her lucky charms, the four leaf clover.
"All I have is this, I'm afraid", she said, handing it to the Duke, "But the other charms brought good luck, perhaps this will too".
However, thinking the four leaf clover useless and believing that he was going to be killed, the Duke simply tore the stem from the four leaf clover throwing leaves and stem upon the ground
No sooner had he done this though when, suddenly and magically, the little stem of the four leaf clover started to grow and become an emerald sword and its four leaves did the same becoming an emerald shield and, realising his good fortune and picking them up the Duke fought with the impostor; he fought fearlessly and fiercely until, finally, because the Dukes sword had the luck of the four leaf clover still in it, the impostor was struck through the centre of his dark heart and, the spell that made him look like the Duke broken, returned to his real form of an ugly, old wizard.
Now, the Duke explaining everything to his family and servants and showing them the dead wizard was welcomed back into his home and, because of the help she had given him, he invited Judiette to come and live with him in his mansion and, before long they had fallen deeply in love and were married and Judiette invited her sisters to the wedding, sending a golden coach to collect her sister Haroldine and a silver one to bring Jessipha just to see the envy upon their faces but though they had been cruel to her she forgave them and they marrying the Dukes two older brothers all lived happily ever after.
