The game of 4 kingdoms - Basic Suit Game
1. 4 Kingdoms is a Suit game; that means a card game (for 2 to 4 players) in which each player takes one of the 4 suits and they play the cards of their suits against each other.
2. It is not a difficult game to understand or play but rather like rock, paper, scissors with cards although it can contain an element of strategy.
3. Strategy in the game - Because players know what cards their opponents have and what cards they have not played this can influence the cards they choose to play.
4. The three lowest cards Ace, 2 and 3 outrank the 3 highest cards Jack, Queen and King.
4. Players simultaneously place one card face down from their hands in the centre of the table and then turn the card over, the player who has put down the highest card wins the other cards and puts them, with the winning card to the side of him.
5. The player who, at the end of the game, has won the most cards, wins the game.
The game of JOCASTA - Points scoring game of chance with an element of strategy.
1. Jocasta is a game for 2 players played upon a hundred square board (10 by 10)
2. Each player has 20 draughts pieces (either red or white); 5 of which bear the number 6; 5 which bear the number 4; 5 which bear the number 3 and 5 which bear the number 1.
3. Players begin with their 20 pieces in the first 2 ranks on their side of the board.
4. Moving: To move a piece, first a player must roll a six sided dice and then multiply the number they roll by the number on the piece, whatever number arises from this multiplication is the number of squares they can move it.
5. Players can move pieces in any direction.
6. The number upon each piece is also the number of points scored by capturing it.
7. To capture an opponents piece you place one of your pieces on the square it occupies.
8. X squares - On the board there are 10 evenly spaced squares marked with X's; a piece cannot move over an X square but this means that a player can place their piece behind an X square, like a barricade, to keep it safe from attack.
9. How to win/ Over 45 rule: The object of the game is to score between 40 and 45 points; the first person to score from 40 to 45 points wins the game but if a player scores higher than 45 they lose the game thus players have to be careful about how many points they win.
10. Is this a game of chance or choice? : It is a roll and move game but players have a choice about which piece to move and in which direction they move.
The game of John O' Groats
1. John O' Groats is a game for 2 players using 1 six sided dice and 36 numbered cards.
2. In the deck of 36 cards there are 6 suits, all numbered 1 to 6.
3. At the beginning of the game the 36 cards are laid out, unshuffled, in any order on a table (or floor).
4. Now, the two players take turns rolling the dice.
5. Each time they roll a number they must remove a card from the table (floor) with that number.
6. If a player rolls a number and there are no cards left on the table with that number they lose and their opponent wins.
