Almost Autumn (Song)

1.
The first leaves fade from brightest jade
to golden hues and amber shades;
soon trees will blaze as skies grow grey;
leaves burning to light Winters way.
2.
The blue skies now seem twice as bright;
raging against the Autumn night
but swallows know it’s time to fly.
In their gentle song I hear goodbye.
Chorus:
It’s almost Autumn;
the rise of the fall;
the ember months are here.
Soon leaves of amber
will cover up all
and trees now green will grow bare.
But then the fireworks will fill the sky
with colours bright and gay
and pumpkin lanterns with their blazing eyes
will scare the ghosts away
and dainty Christmas snowflakes just like lace
will shower everything
and then before you know you’ll see the face
of bright returning spring.
3.
The days will shorten inch by inch
as Summer slowly starts to go.
Before you know you’ll feel the pinch
of frosty fingers on your nose.
4.
So, little children seize the day;
enjoy the sun; run out and play;
with every leaf that falls I hear
the Autumn slowly creeping near.
Chorus:
It’s almost Autumn;
the rise of the fall;
the ember months are here.
Soon leaves of amber
will cover up all
and trees now green will grow bare.
But then the fireworks will fill the sky
with colours bright and gay
and pumpkin lanterns with their blazing eyes
will scare the ghosts away
and dainty Christmas snowflakes just like lace
will shower everything
and then before you know you’ll see the face
of bright returning spring.
