1.
The Angel Michael appeared to me;
his crown, an aster, appeared to be;
his wings were feathered with Autumn leaves
he smiled and told me, “Thou must not grieve”.
2.
He flew as fast as a firework
to where the devils of darkness lurked;
a pumpkin lantern in his right hand
and, against darkness, he made a stand.
Chorus:
Oh Autumn Angel shining bright;
you battle darkness with your light
with shining wings of joy, we too
could all be angels just like you.
3.
His heart looked bright as a robin’s breast;
the light of joy shining from his chest.
Though shadows charged with their horns of black
with light of joy Michael drove them back.
4.
"Autumn’s", he said, "The time to be bright.
Let your smile shine like a lantern’s light;
a time for friendship and fun and cheer;
their light will drive dark far from here".
Chorus:
Oh Autumn Angel shining bright;
you battle darkness with your light
with shining wings of joy, we too
could all be angels just like you.
