1.
Take me back to where the flowers sing;
sea of colours in the summer wind;
blue Nirvana of the summer sky;
golden temple bell that rings on high.
2.
Take me back to where sweet bird song flows.
Songs are sermons; hearing them, I know
a guiding light glows out of each green leaf;
the breath of god is in the air I breathe.
Chorus:
Take me back to paradise.
I don’t believe the serpent lies
that I was told.
Back to scenes of emerald green
for now I know how much they mean;
much more than gold.
3.
Back to clear skies on which starlight grows;
lillies of silver in blue fields of night;
or milk that, down from mother heaven, flows
feeding my soul upon their beauty, bright.
4.
And to clear streams that, like a tinkling, shine;
making me merry like a crate of wine;
sparkling like the sweet laughter of a child
or God’s first children in their Eden wild.
Chorus:
Take me back to paradise.
I don’t believe the serpent lies
that I was told.
Back to scenes of emerald green
for now I know how much they mean;
much more than gold.
