Dr Eaming, I presume

“However far you go”, said the voice, “You cannot move, because the universe is a dream. However far you go you never leave your head”.
And so I got in a car; I drove 5; 10; 20; 25; 50, a hundred miles but, after I had driven a hundred miles, the voice spoke to me again, saying, “Though you feel you have travelled a hundred miles, you have not moved an inch because you are dreaming; lying still in bed; however far you go you can never get out of your head”.
And so I got into a yacht and I sailed out to sea. I sailed a 100; 200; 400; 800, a thousand miles out to sea but, after I had sailed a thousand miles from the mainland, I heard that voice speak to me again, “Though you feel as if you have sailed a thousand miles; you have not sailed a centimetre because you are dreaming, submerged in a deep sleep and however far you sail, though you may sail around the world or over the edge of it, you can never leave your head”.
And so I sailed to Cape Canaveral and I got into my own private Space rocket and I blasted off and, when I got outside of the Earth’s atmosphere, I hit the large button on the control panel that said hyperlux drive and, the spaceship shuddering forwards, I travelled 5 light years; 10 light years; 100 light years, 10 hundred light years; a thousand light years but then, when I had travelled a thousand light years out into deepest space, I heard that voice echoing in my head again, “Though you feel as if you have travelled a thousand light years, you have not moved an inch because you are dreaming; lying in bed and even were you to travel to the edge of the universe and beyond, you would never be able to escape the inside of your head”.
And I screamed, oh how I screamed; a scream that seemed to echo throughout the universe;
“This is madness! Madness!”, I screamed.
But, just then, I woke up.
“We’re there”, said a man in a strange blue uniform, opening the transparent lid of the long cylindrical box I was lying in.
“There where?”, I asked.
“At the New Planet; the Deep Space Colony”, he replied, “Oh you must have temporary memory loss; Temporal Akinesis can cause that but don’t worry. You’ve been asleep, in a timewarp, for 3 million years and you’ve travelled 3 million light years. You’re one of the people who was chosen to colonise the new planet, Dr Eaming”.
“Dr Eaming?”, I asked.
“Yes, you are Dr Eaming”, he said, “Or what I mean to say is, that’s your name”.
“But that’s like Dreami….”, I started to say but then I stopped myself.
“No”, I thought, “Time to just have some faith in the ordinary”.
“I am Dr Eaming”, I said, “And I am wide awake”.
