The Fastest Rabbit In The World

There once was a rabbit called lightning;
the fastest rabbit in the world
and the speed that he ran at was frightening;
faster than any wind ever whirled.

Over green hills and fields he would hurtle;
just a blur with a white cotton tail,
making speeding trains look slow as turtles
and fast motorcars slower than snails.

Any race you could think of, he’d win it;
against animal, man or machine;
finish it before they could begin it;
the fastest living thing ever seen.

But then, one day, this old man appeared;
an old man who they called ‘Mr Clause’;
big and round with a white bushy beard
to recruit the rabbit for his cause.

He said, “Lightning, you’ve some pair of legs;
fastest rabbit I ever did see
and I’ve a job delivering eggs;
why don’t you come and work for me?”.

So now lightning runs round the world
every Easter when its bright and Sunny
bringing eggs to all good boys and girls
but now they call him the Easter Bunny.
