Fledgeling Flight

I lift a fledgeling to the sky;
say, "This is how it is to fly
and this is what it means to soar
and this is what your wings are for".

 

I carry it beyond the nest.
Against the air, its wings, I press;
up to the sun then, in my hand
I bring it, softly, in to land.
