There once was a prince who built a big statue in honour of the green fairy but this so angered her jealous and evil half sister the red witch that hearing that the prince was going to have a royal ball to select a princess to marry she decided upon a plan to kill him.
She found a peasant girl named Floradora who was picking flowers near to her mothers cottage and she said to her,
"I am your fairy godmother Floradora and I shall arrange it so that you will go to the royal ball that the prince is holding and he will pick you to marry"
And, saying this the red witch turned the ragged dress that Floradora was wearing into a golden ball gown and put make up upon her face and turned her old farm cart and carthorse into a golden carriage pulled by six white horses and her cat into a coach driver and then, within the coach, she rode to the prince's palace.
And the moment he saw Floradora he was immediately entranced by her beauty so that he didn't want to dance with any other lady at the ball.
And Floradora was so happy because the prince was such a gentleman and so charming and she even felt herself falling in love with him as they danced together.
Unfortunately, the rouge that the red witch had placed upon Floradoras lips was poisonous and when, out on a balcony, in the moonlight, the prince and Floradora kissed the prince immediately fell down unconcious.
And the moment that this happened one of the people watching shouted, "Look. Something has happened to the prince".
And when a royal doctor was called to examine the prince, he declared, "Its poison. Someone has poisoned him".
"It must have been that mysterious girl he was dancing with", another of the guests said, "She poisoned him".
But when they looked around to see where Floradora was she was not there because she had already run off, terrified and sobbing.
Infact she had run to the river so frightened and confused and sad that she thought of throwing herself in.
But it was because the red witch was in her head taunting her.
"Did you really think you would marry a prince?", asked the red witch cackling, "Now they'll hang you for killing him. You may aswell end your life, Floradora".
Just as she was about to jump in the river however, suddenly the prince came galloping up on a white horse.
"Wait Floradora", he called out to her.
"But I thought you were dead?", said Floradora, seeing him, surprised.
"That was the strange thing", he said, "For no sooner had you run off when the statue of the green fairy that I erected became real and she brought me back to life then she explained everything to me about who you were".
"So you don't hate me?", asked Floradora.
"No", said the prince, "I love you".
Then they kissed again only this time there was no poison in the kiss, only pure and passionate love.
But this made the red witch angry and she appeared as a red, horned dragon, blowing fire from her jaws and smoke from her nostrils.
However, just as that happened, a green sword and shield appeared upon the princes white horse that the green fairy had put there and, seizing hold of them, the Prince fought the red dragon and though it blew fire at him with the heat of a furnace, the fairies green shield protected him and then, bravely, he pierced the red dragon through its dark heart and it fell into the river with a splash before sinking to the bottom.
After that Floradora and the Prince were married and lived happily ever after.
