Game of Uh-Oh – Chasing game with continuous role switching
- The Uh-Oh Board – The Uh-Oh board has 64 squares (8x8).8 of the squares on it are red coloured UH-OH squares.4 are yellow “Jump” squares and 4 are green “Go Faster” squares. They should be broadly but symmetrically spaced around the board. The other 48 squares should be either light blue or dark blue.
- Players each have two triangular playing pieces. One player has black pieces; one player has white pieces.
- Players take turns rolling a six sided dice and moving one of their pieces, in any direction, the number of squares they roll.
- The UH-OH squares – When one of a player’s pieces lands on an UH-OH square they become “The Pursuer”, meaning, they must chase and catch one of their opponents pieces.
- Every time a player who is being pursued lands on an UH-OH square “the hunter becomes the hunted” they switch roles and the player that was being pursued starts to chase their opponent around the board.
- “Jump” squares: Whenever a player lands on a “Jump” square they can jump to another jump square on the other side of the board.
- “Go Faster Square”: If a player lands on a Go Faster Square – they can double their next 3 dice rolls.
- To catch an Opponent’s piece you must land one of your pieces on a square occupied by one of their pieces.
- The player who, while in the role of “Hunter” catches one of their opponents pieces wins the game.
- Why would this be fun to play? : Firstly, because players can move in any direction this would allow freedom to run around the board making it, I hope, a fast paced game. Secondly, I think because of the role reversal element. If you are chasing someone you want to get close to them but if they suddenly become the hunter then you, by being close to them, are in a vulnerable position.
Crash – Board game for 2 to 4 players
- Players all begin with 4 pieces which they place in their starter square on one of the four sides of the board.
- They take turns rolling a dice and move their pieces towards the finishing square at the centre of the board.
- HOWEVER, they DO NOT want to reach the finishing square because this is the CRASH square. The players whose pieces reach the finishing square are the ones that lose the game.
- JUMP OFF SQUARES: That is why, on the board, there are JUMP OFF squares and if a players piece lands on a JUMP OFF square it allows them to remove that piece from the board.
- A players aim is remove all of their pieces from the board before one of them can reach the Crash square otherwise they have to keep moving forwards until they crash.
- JUMP BACK SQUARES: However, on the board there are also JUMP BACK squares and if a players piece lands on a JUMP BACK square then they can move that piece back as many squares as are indicated on the JUMP BACK square (For example JUMP BACK 4 squares) however they may not jump back onto a square that is occupied by one of their other pieces.
- MISS A TURN: Lastly there are MISS A TURN squares but, unlike most board games, in this game missing a turn can be a good thing because it slows down the progress of your pieces towards the CRASH square.
