The Game of Zebra -
- Players begin with these 6 words – Black, White, Black, White, Black, White
- The players then take turns saying this but each turn, they change one of the 6 words to its opposite colour – For example, in the first turn, Player A (who is playing White) might change the first word to White making it White, White, Black, White, Black, White; in the second turn, Player B (who is playing Black) could change the last word to Black making it White, White, Black, White, Black, Black; in the 3rd turn Player A could change the 3rd word to White, making it White, White, White, White, Black, Black thus winning the game
- The aim of the game, you see, is to, by changing the colour, get 4 of the same colour in a row, for example, to get White, White, White, White, Black, Black OR Black, Black, Black, Black, White, White
The Board Game Of Maze War - Maze Solving Battle Game
The rules to Maze War are incredibly simple and yet winning the game is not.
Players have a 100 square board with a genuinely complex labyrinthe (Difficult to solve) of pathways depicted on it with lots of false pathways and dead ends.
Each player has a regiment of 30 soldiers that they place at strategic points within the labyrinthe on their side of the board.
Each turn a player is allowed to take a new turning in the labyrinthe with as many of their pieces as will fit in the turning - for example, if they turn into a coridoor that is 3 squares long they can put up to 3 pieces in that coridoor
In order to capture an opponents piece, it and your piece must both be in a straight corridor of the maze (in other words no shooting around corners).
Tha aim of the game is to capture all your opponents pieces but in order to do this you have to solve the maze as you are playing to get to your opponents pieces.
Why make such a board game - I thought it would better emulate a guerilla warfare situation than other war games because you have to navigate through unknown territory and can get stuck or trapped in dead ends but also the turnings of the maze act as natural barricades that a piece can retreat behind.
