There once was a little girl with hair of gold and eyes of blue who had a very pretty flower and, one day, she was skipping through the woods when a wolf who was passing by saw the flower and said,
“My what a pretty flower you have, little girl. Can I have your flower?”.
But the little girl replied,
“Oh no, this is a gift for someone”.
All the same the wolf thought he would try and take the flower but then the little girl, seeing the wolf creep up behind her ran away, saying
“No, you shall not have my flower”.
But then, not long afterwards, the little girl met a rabbit with a carrot and he thought her flower was pretty too and, just like the wolf, hopping up beside her, he asked,
“Oh what a lovely flower. Would you like to trade it for a carrot?”.
But the little girl replied,
“No thank you. I will not trade my flower for anything. It is a gift for someone”.
And then, just like the wolf, the rabbit thought he’d try and take the girls flower but she ran away again saying,
“No, you shall not have my flower”.
But then the little girl came across a gang of naughty boys up to mischief and seeing the little girls flower the boys said to the little girl;
“Hey, little girl. Can we have your pretty flower?”.
But, just as before, the little girl said,
“No, it is a gift for someone”.
But then the gang of boys thought amongst themselves that, together, they could steal the girls flower and they surrounded her and were going to take the flower but the little girl started to shout, “Oh help! Help!”.
And because she was quite close to home her father heard her calling for help and came running through the forest.
And when the boys saw her father they were so scared that they all ran away.
But then, her father, lifting her up in his arms carried her the rest of the way home and, when they got home, the little girl said to her father,
“I want you to have my flower, daddy”.
And so her father took the flower, saying, “Oh yes. It’s the loveliest flower I’ve ever seen”.
But then the little girl was tired and so her father tucked her up in bed and, happily, she fell asleep and had a lovely dream about hundreds and hundreds of beautiful flowers.
