The Good Fairy and The Bad Fairy

Once, there were two brothers; two fairies; one, called Goodun, who was always doing good and one, called Baddun who was always working mischief and Baddun hated his brother because whenever he tried to play tricks on people his good brother would always try to set things right.
Once for example, they were in the forest, sitting upon tree branches; Goodun thinking of what good deeds he could do and Baddun trying to think up wicked tricks to play on people, when a milk maid came walking by carrying two large wooden pails filled with milk.
Immediately, seeing the milk maid, a mischievous idea popped into Badduns head and he flew down underneath one of the pails and, using his fairy magic to conjure up a carpenter’s drill, began drilling holes in it so that all the milk would run out of the pail and then, when he had drilled enough holes in one pail, he flew under the other pail and did the same.
“Hee-hee!”, he laughed, now all that foolish Maids milk will be wasted.
But then Goodun, the good fairy, seeing what his bad brother had done thought it an awful trick to play and he flew down as quick as a flash and, using his magic to conjure up a dozen tiny corks, plugged up all the holes that his wicked brother had drilled.
“Drat!”, exclaimed Baddun, seeing how his do-gooder brother had spoiled his evil trick, “Why don’t you mind your own business and stop trying to spoil other peoples fun?”.
“And let you get this poor, innocent girl into trouble?”, the good fairy replied, “I shall not!”.
But the bad fairy wasn’t ready to give up trying to play a trick on the milkmaid and this time, spying a branch lying near by, he flew down and, picking up the branch, placed it in the milkmaids path so that she would trip over it and spill all the milk from her pails.
But then, seeing what his wicked brother had done, the good fairy flew down and, using a tiny axe, chopped the branch in two so that, rather than tripping over it, the milk maid merely walked between its two broken halves.
However, this only made the bad fairy more determined and now, flying ahead of the milkmaid, and conjuring up a tiny fairy spade, he dug at incredible speed and made a shallow, muddy ditch for the milk maid to fall into.
But then , not a moment later, and just as the unsuspecting milk maid was about to fall into the ditch, the good fairy flew down and, conjuring up a pile of stones, whizzed about as fast as a hurricane, building a bridge for the milk maid to walk over and, instead of falling into the ditch the milk maid walked safely across it.
Now the bad fairy got so angry with his do-gooder brother that his little fairy face turned as red as a raspberry and steam burst from both his ears, making a whistling sound and then, in a desperate attempt to make the Milk-Maid have a mishap, he flew as fast as a bullet from a gun towards the milk Maid and, with all his fairy might, gave her a hard shove so that she fell forwards, tumbling head first and dropping both her milk pails so that the milk in them spilled everywhere.
Seeing the milk spilled all over the ground, the poor milk maid was in tears and the bad fairy was so pleased with himself that he burst out laughing.
“Hee-hee-hee!”, he said to his good brother, “Now put that right, if you can!”.
The good brother felt so sad for the poor milk maid and, flying down so that he landed upon her knee, he revealed himself to her.
“I’m sorry for what happened to you”, he said to her, “It’s my wicked brothers fault. He’s a bad fairy and he’s always trying to do bad things to people”.
“That’s alright”, said the milk maid, sensing the Good fairies kind nature, “But my master is going to be so angry when I tell him that I haven’t any milk for him. He’s a giant you see and a wizard too, who lives in a castle on the other side of these woods”.
Now, hearing this an idea popped into Goodun’s head,
“A giant you say?”, he asked smiling, “And a wizard? Well then, just tell him that you spilled the milk because a bad fairy called Baddun who lives in the forest pushed you”.
Now, overhearing his brothers words, the bad fairy was terrified and, flying down and kneeling in front of the milk maid he pleaded with her,
“Oh no, please don’t tell the giant, please”, he begged.
“Well, if you don’t want her to tell the giant then why not conjure up some more milk for her?”, said the good fairy.
The bad fairy hated this idea because he hated doing good things for people but he had no choice and so, grumpily, blinking both his eyes, he filled up both the milk-maids pails with fresh milk and then lifting them up she went on her way, thanking the good fairy for his kindness.
Now it was the good fairies turn to laugh seeing how miserable his wicked brother looked.
