I'm not an American. I'm British and live in the U.K. but nonetheless what America does effects me.
Most importantly, I feel, because Global Warming effects Britain and the whole world so obviously it benefits me if someone is running the U.S.A who takes Global Warming seriously.
Donald Trump is a Global Warming sceptic. That alone is enough for me to think he should not be in charge of America.
Even if Hillary Clinton, as many other politicians have been, is half-hearted in her commitment to environmental issues, I believe that half a heart is better than none and if a Global Warming sceptic becomes President of the U.S.A. then I know for certain that he is not going to care about the environment.
Secondly, Americas foreign policy. Americas wars usually involve the U.K. with the British Armed Forces being sent to fight for American interests. So obviously, it would benefit the U.K. to have someone running the U.S.A who has some diplomatic skills.
And one thing I'm very certain of is that Donald Trump has proven himself completely lacking in diplomacy. He's too egotistical to be a diplomat; a diplomat has to be flexible; they have to bite their tongue sometimes because they're dealing with other large and sensitive egos. Ideally you want someone who is Machiavellian; an Iago not, as Donald Trump is, Sir Toby Belch.
I'm not claiming that Hillary Clinton is a great diplomat. To be honest I am no fan of Hillary Clinton but her campaign hasn't, unlike Trumps, been mostly based upon offending and alienating people which means she understands atleast the rudiments of diplomacy which I don't think Donald Trump does. Furthermore she has been secretary of state which means she has experience and that has to count for something.
Donald Trump also seems to think that because he has experience doing Business negotiations that will make him a good diplomat. I think thats wrong fot 2 reasons a) When he makes negotiations for his company he's only serving his own personal interests but when you are negotiating on behalf of a country you are serving the electorate of your country. b) If a business deal falls through then a businessman suffers financial losses and ofcourse his workers suffer, which he may or may not care about but if peace negotiations fail people lose their lives. The stakes are much higher so you really do not want someone making those negotiations who is only thinking of themselves.
Oh and thats not even taking into account how helpful Trump would be to those recruiting a new generation of Islamic terrorists. I think that if Trump wins there'll be a massive surge in Terrorist recruitment and radicalization because Trump is basically a red rag to an islamic bull.
From a U.K. perspective, I think that Trump has one thing and one thing only going for him and that is that, because of his personal bias's, America might have good business relations with a Post Brexit Britain unlike Obama who said that Britain would have to go to the back of the queue and I'm sure that that would appeal to alot of people who can only think about day to day things like putting food on the table.
But personally, I think that if Global Warming kills everyone it won't matter what shape the U.K. economy is in, so that aspect of Trump doesn't win me over.
Anyway, its not my decision since I'm not an American but if I was I would probably vote Hillary just to stop Trump because if Trump wins I think its going to be bad, not just for America but for everyone.
