Inanna (IP)

Through seven gates of progress have men passed
into this grey age of Erishkigal.
How long will its infernal grimness last?
How farther has the soul of man to fall
before it’s raised up like the queen of love;
the evening star, to her bright realms above?
Once, when men ploughed through fertile fields of grain
and the tall cedar was a source of pride;
they worshipped her.
When will they do again
and the green earth, again, become their bride?
Only then will deaths grim grip let them go.
Then the seeds of a new age shall they sow;
an age of love and love shall set them free,
oh lady of all life; of all and me*

A very atmospheric piece well
A very atmospheric piece well-wisher. The phrase 'infernal grimness' speaks volumes, and relates to much o the world today.
