To the insomniac

One night, or day, you’ll fall asleep
and sink into slumber so deep
that you shall never wake again;
so why not leave your sleep till then?
And, instead, on the bright moon, gaze;
salve your nerves in her silver rays
or be kissed by each twinkling star;
many as life’s blessings, there are.
And thank fortune, for sleep you lack;
think blessed, the insomniac;
the lucky few who live by night
and gaze on heaven's twinkling lights.
