“Your noble majesty”, said he,
“I’ll be your clown no more
for I am bound
to sail around
this earth to golden shores.
A new world is awaiting;
uncharted, unexplored,
where men like me
can be as free
as the bright birds that soar”.
“Your noble majesty”, said he,
“I wish thee a fond farewell.
You’ll find some fool,
I’ve no doubt, who’ll
fit my old cap and bells.
But for so long I’ve languished;
my life, like a prison cell.
Too long, I’ve grieved
but now I leave
for lands where free men dwell”.
