Once upon a time, it was in China, some say, a woman found a magic golden bird in the forest that had a broken wing and, taking pity upon the bird, took it home and looked after it until its wing had healed.
Then, because the bird was grateful to the woman, he lifted her up and carried her to the top of the mountain of heaven and a garden where gold and silver fruit grows upon the trees and when she held a basket beneath a tree of golden apples the tree shook until, the apples falling from its branches, it filled up her basket with them.
Then the magic bird flew the woman back home and with all the golden apples she became very rich.
When she told her neighbour about how she had become so rich, however, her neighbour felt that she could become rich in the same way and so she went into the forest to look for the magic bird and, finding it sitting peacefully in a tree, threw a stone at it knocking it out of the tree and causing it to break its wing.
Then she took the bird home and looked after it until its wing had healed itself.
And then, just as it had done with the first woman, it lifted the neighbour up and carried her off towards the mountain of heaven but then, as it was approaching the top of the mountain, it let go of her and, instead of getting to pick golden apples, she fell down to the bottom of the sea and, after fighting off an amorous octopus, only came home covered in slime and seaweed.

my opinion
isn't smart,
isn't educated,
is often over-rated...
yet I think the poem is great except the last line of the first stanza which seems not to scan as well...
sorry.... hope you can recover.. :)
maisie Guess what? I'm still alive!
