Magic Touch

An upturned top hat on a table;

a magicians hat.

You reach in and there is a red paper heart.

You take it gently in your hands

but the paper bursts into flame;

red and yellow curling flames

and yet it does not burn up.

You blow upon it and it becomes a rose;

a blooming red rose of love and passion.

You place it to your nose and smell

its deep perfume

but it becomes a kiss

upon your cheek;

you brush your cheek with your hand

and the kiss becomes a white dove

flapping within your hand.

You let the dove go and it flies off

up towards a golden sun

and a beautiful sunset.

These  are the things

that you can do with a heart

for these are the things

that you do with mine.
