March is on the march

March is on the march.
I hear its tiny boots.
I hear them in the rain
that feeds new roots and shoots.

Soon you will see the bugle call
of golden daffodils
then Springtime will come marching
over the fields and hills.

The Apple Tree

Happily
the Apple tree
gives away fresh
green fruit for free.
Our pounds and pence
she doesn’t need,
only that we
spread apple seed.

February

Through this land of wind and snow,
on my dappled mare, I ride
because, in the end, I know
April’s on the other side.

Beyond this frost and freezing rain,
I will see warmer climes again
and blossoms upon every tree.
I hear spring song birds calling me.
