A box is a container for a number, for example “a box of 3”, when the boxes are multiplied the number inside each box is unaltered.
So, for example,
2 boxes of 3 is not 6, it is 2 boxes of 3.
2 times 2 boxes of 3 is not 12, it is 4 boxes of 3.
You see, the boxes are multiplied but the number within each box remains the same.
Why did you come up with this idea?:
I came up with this idea so that I could do this sum:
1 box of zero (empty box) plus 1 box of zero is 2 boxes of zero.
