Mental shuffling – A way of mentally making a random selection.
- Think of three options. For example A, B and C.
- Now think of a number for example 6
- Now just shuffle the order of your options that number of times.
- Whichever, in your final arrangement, is the last of the three options is the selected option.
For example: If I pick the number 4 then I shuffle the three options four times
A,B,C
B,C,A
C,B,A
B,A,C
C is the option that I’m left with.
Pendulum Bowling
- Pendulum Bowling is a game in which players use a weight upon a rope rather than a mallet or club to strike balls with.
- To strike the ball they swing the pendulum or pull it back and release it.
- There are two lines marked upon the floor. They must knock the ball infront of the first line but no further. If they do this successfully then they score 1 point.
- If the ball goes over the first line and into the space between the lines then they lose a point
- If the ball goes over the second line, they lose 2 points.
- If they can knock an opponents ball into the space between the two lines without their ball going over the first line then they score two points. If they can knock an opponents ball over the second line without their ball going over the first line then they score 3 points.
Pointers: A Silent Word Game
- Players point to things beginning with a letter to indicate the letter of word.
- Each time they point to another thing beginning with the next letter of a word their opponent has a chance to guess the word.
- In order to guess the word, a player must spell out the word by pointing to things; they cannot say the word.
- Some Actions and signs may also be used to indicate a letter, for example the V sign and crossing fingers/ arms for X
- Some useful things to point at when there is nothing else round about to point at: A= Arm
B= back, back of hand, blouse, button (or bottom possibly)
C= Chin/Chest/Cheek/clap
E= Ear/Elbow
F= Finger/fist
H = Hand/Head/ Hair
I = Eye
J = Jersey/ Jumper/Jumping
K = Knuckle/Knee
L = Leg
P = Palm/patting/punching
R = Ring (If you are wearing a ring)
S = Shoulder/ Smiling/scratching
T = Thumb/teeth
V = V for victory sign (Peace sign)
W = Wrist
X = Cross fingers/arms
6) Two thumbs up indicate Yes/Correct. Two thumbs down indicate No/Incorrect.
7) Example of a short game:
Player 1 Points to Arm. (Meaning that A is the first letter of the word)
Player 2 points to Arm, Eye and Mouth (Meaning that his guess is A, I, M or AIM)
Player 1 gives two thumbs down sign (Meaning that the guess was incorrect)
Player 1 now points to a nearby window (Meaning that the next letter of the word is W).
Player 2 points to Arm, Window and Eye (Meaning that his guess is A, W, E or Awe)
Player 1 gives two thumbs up sign (Meaning that the guess was correct)
Pathfinder game – Problem solving game played on two draughts boards.
- Pathfinder is a game of deduction/process of elimination played upon 2 checker boards with numbered squares but ordinary draughtsmen.
- Both players mentally chart a path across the board of their opponent and write down the numbers of the squares that make up the path on a pad.
- Once they have done that they turn their pads over so that the numbers can’t be seen by their opponents.
- Now the players are allowed to place 4 draughtsmen at a time on their boards. Each time they put a draughtsman on a square that is part of the path they are allowed to leave it on the board but each time they put a draughts piece on a square that is not ‘part of the path’ then they must remove it from the board and try again.
- How to win- The winner is the player who finds the path on their board first.
