Long ago and far away, in a little cottage, lived two little girls named Mia and Maya who had parents that loved them very much.
But then sadly there was a gigantic storm and the girls father and mother were blown away by it leaving them orphans and, because they were orphans, they were forced to live with their evil Aunt Slimella who, because she hated them both and was horribly evil and cruel, locked them in her cellar without food and water hoping that they would die of thirst and hunger.
But Mia had a little piece of chalk and trying to cheer up her sister she drew pictures on the wall of their dungeon.
She drew a big lake full of lemonade,
“There Maya is a big lake full of lemonade so that we will not die of thirst”, she said.
Then she drew trees with cakes and pies hanging from them like fruit saying,
“And there are the cake trees and the pie trees so that we will not die of hunger”.
And finally she drew a big field of flowers saying,
“And there is a big field of flowers where, afterwards we can run around and play”
But then, to the astonishment of both the girls, the picture Mia had drawn became real. They could see a breeze blowing through the grass and flowers of the field and hear birds chirping.
“This must be a magic house”, said Mia, “If pictures come to life”.
But then stepping into the picture they drank the lemonade from the lake and ate the pies and cakes that they picked from the trees and afterwards they ran around in and played games in the field and even made a chain of flowers.
But while they were playing they heard the sound of their evil Aunt returning to check on them and so, coming back out of the picture they wiped it all away so that their Aunt wouldn’t find it.
And when their Aunt looked inside the cellar, though they were not starving or sad anymore, they pretended to cry and begged her for food.
Laughing, their evil, cruel Aunt just slammed the door, saying to them,
“I will never feed you and you will never come out. You will stay in there until there is nothing left of you but dust and bones”.
But then, the next day, Mia drew another picture. She drew a picture of a big palace, two little ball gowns and two glittering crowns and then, stepping into the picture they put on the gowns and the crowns so that they looked just like princess’s then they entered the palace where they were greeted by servants who bowed and curtseyed and called them your royal highnesses.
Then a royal footman led them to a gigantic ballroom where princes and princesses were dancing and, two young princes asking them to dance, they danced round and round the ballroom while an orchestra played then they joined the princes and princesses at a giant banqueting table where they ate a delicious banquet.
But then , just as they were finishing their meal they heard their evil Aunt coming again to check on them and so, as before, taking off the chalk picture ball gowns and crowns, they ran out of the picture, wiping it off of the wall to hide it from their evil Aunt.
And then, just as before, when their evil Aunt opened the door of the cellar to see how they were they pretended to cry, begging for food and water.
And again, happy to see the girls suffering, the evil Aunt said,
“I will never feed you and you will never come out. You will stay in there until there is nothing left of you but dust and bones”.
But then the next day, Mia drew a playground with swings and a see-saw; a slide and a roundabout for them to play in and, stepping into the picture they had lots of fun running around in the playground.
But then, while they were in the playground, their Aunt, walking past the door of the cellar heard the girls laughing and opening the door of the cellar she saw them both inside the picture.
“So this is what you have been getting up to behind my back”, she said, entering the picture and, an angry snarl on her face, chasing the girls.
She chased them round the roundabout and over the see-saw, in and out of the swings and up and down the slide but finally they ran back out of the picture and then, seeing their evil Aunt running after them Mia said to her sister,
“Quick, quick, Maya. Rub out the picture before she can get out”.
And that is just what they did; they rubbed out the swings; they rubbed out the see-saw; they rubbed out the roundabout and the slide and with them they rubbed out their evil Aunt Slimella so that she was gone from their lives forever.
But then, noticing that the door of the cellar was open they ran out into the day light.
“Free at last”, said Maya to her sister.
“Yes”, said Mia, “But there’s one more thing I need to draw to make things perfect”.
And, saying this, Mia drew their Mother and Father on a wall and suddenly, the pictures came to life stepping out of the wall.
Then Mia and Maya hugged their parents and they all lived happily ever after.
