Midnight Feast

When the moon is big and bright,
badger faces, black and white
appear from out of badger holes,
a midnight feast, each badgers goal.
Sniffing air with pointed snouts,
they all come out to roam about;
then, against earth, their noses rub
as they hunt tasty worms and grubs.
With their keen noses, those bright brocks
search under rustling leaves and rocks
and through each grass blade on the ground
until their squirmy feast is found.
And after they’ve eaten enough
of wiggly worms and bugs and stuff,
then back to burrows underground
they go to sleep; snug, safe and sound.
