Mindland

Markus sat upon a rock levitated by his own telekinesis and watched, through his psynoculars, the destruction of the two cities of the Mindland; the land created by his Telemorpher friend Avric before the people from the institute had killed him.
Avric had used his telemorphic ability; the ability to alter matter with his mind, to create a new dimension where the children from the institute could live free of the government; the scientists; the military and anyone else who wanted to exploit them.
"Imagine", he'd said, "A world entirely populated by those with mind powers; the telepaths; the telekinetics; the psychometers; the clairvoyants and psychoporters, the pyrokinetics and the telemorphs".
And they'd all gone through the portal that Avrics mind had opened; all the kids from the institute who had been genetically engineered as psychic spies and warriors; all except Avric who had stayed behind to fight the soldiers, creating a bullet proof energy shield to protect the kids from their rifles.
But just as the last of them had entered the portal, Avrics strength had given out and the energy shield disappearing he had been mown down by the soldiers bullets.
Ofcourse, his friend Marva had predicted it.
She'd said she'd had a dream of seeing Avric appear before her, the night before the exodus and that his body had been full of stars.
Now Markus realized that the stars must have been bullet holes.
Still, one day their descendents would write legends about them, he thought, and in those legends Avric would be a boy of stars.
He wondered what Avric would have thought about the war.
He remembered Marva had predicted it too, upon their arrival in the Mindland, that they would turn against each other.
"Deep division shall be sown and the tribe of the mindland shall be torn in two", she'd spoken in her sleep, "A battle shall rage between the two factions and in the battle many shall lose their lives to a terrible new force".
And just as she had predicted a rift grew within the children of the institute; two leaders emmerging, two Telemorphs with different visions of their future; Jedron and Zale.
Altering the matter of the mindlands they had made two opposing cities rise up; Psychopolis and Soul City; put the telekinetics in charge of operating their machinery; the telepaths in charge of communication; the psychoporters, transport; the psychometers, policing and the pyrokinetics, the military.
Then war had broken out between the two cities; the pyrokinetics hurling fireballs at each other or, astrally projecting themselves, dropping bombs from the sky.
Ofcourse the clairvoyants wanted no part in it because they said they had seen how it would end; in the destruction of most of the children.
But, inspite of being able to see the future, the clairvoyants were the least powerful among them and Zale and Jedron had ordered the psychometers to arrest all the Clairvoyants so that they couldn't spread their peacenik views.
Some tried to flee their cities; run into the wasteland but the Psychometers were like psychic bloodhounds, tracking them down from the things they had touched on their journey.
And then Zale and the other Psychomorphs of Soul City had decided to create something new; a bomb full of psychokinetic energy that would rip Psychopolis apart.
Ofcourse, it wasn't long before the telepaths of Psychopolis, breaking into Zales dreams, found out about it and then the Psychopolitans started constructing their own weapon of psychic mass destruction.
Thankfully, Markus and some of the others had come to their senses just in time; realized that Zale and Jedron were just drunk on their own power and they'd managed to convince some of the psychoporters to teleport them into the desert, far away from the two cities.
But now, sadly, all they could do was watch the devestation of the cities and the murder of all those within them.
Just then, however, Markus heard a voice in his head.
It sounded like the voice of his friend Avric.
"Don't worry", he heard him say.
"Avric. You're alive", thought Markus.
"My soul became part of the Mindland", said Avric, "In the Mindland no one truly ever dies. Not unless they die inside like Zale and Jedron".
"But what will we do now?", asked Markus, "The Psychomorphs destroyed themselves in the war. How will we build another city without them?".
"My power is within you now", said Avric, "Use that to build a new city but this time, make sure that its a city of love and peace".
