One day, Morris a little brown mouse was in the kitchen of the house where he lived and he was sniffing around looking for some food when he came across a big jar full of brown stuff that looked like chocolate spread.
"Yum! Chocolate spread", he said, hurriedly unscrewing the lid of the jar and scooping out some of it with his little paws, "My favourite".
But then, no sooner had he put some in his mouth when he spat it back out again with a look of disgust upon his face.
"Bleuggh!", he said, "Thats not chocolate! That tastes horrible".
He looked at the label on the jar and read the words 'Yeast Extract'.
"I thought it wasn't chocolate", he said, "Whatever Yeast Extract is it is certainly not fit for mouse consumption".
But then, as he was looking about for something else that might take the taste of the Yeast Extract out of his mouth, suddenly Morris mouse heard a little trumpeting sound and, looking round to see where it was coming from, he saw a little royal mouse messenger who, putting away his trumpet declared, "Here ye! Here ye! Princess Prunella, the daughter of mouse king Leopold has been kidnapped by the ferocious Curtis the cat. King Leopold has offered his daughters paw in marriage aswell as a mountain of cheese to any mouse brave enough to rescue her".
Hearing this Morris Mouse stroked his mouse whiskers in thought.
"A princess and a mountain of cheese, eh? If only I wasn't such a coward it could be me marrying that princess and eating all that cheese", he said to himself.
But then, suddenly, Morris had a very bright idea.
And later that day as Curtis the cat was preparing to eat Princess Prunella in a mouse sandwich, buttering two slices of bread and, her little mouse paws tied behind her back with string, Princess Prunella was calling out, "Help me! Someone please! Oh please. Won't someone help me!", suddenly out of nowhere there appeared Morris the mouse who quickly started to nibble through the string that bound Princess Prunella.
"Don't worry, Princess", said Morris, "I've come to save you".
"Oh thank you! Thank you", said Princess Prunella and, throwing her paws around Morris she was just about to kiss him when, just then, Curtis the cat turned round and saw him and, reaching down grabbed hold of him.
"Oh no! Oh no!", cried Princess Prunella, seeing Curtis the cat raise Morris above his open mouth ready to eat him.
"Don't worry about me, Princess", shouted Morris, bravely, "Save yourself".
And then, as she ran in terror, looking back over her shoulder, Princess Prunella, to her horror saw Curtis the cat swallow Morris whole.
But no sooner had the cat put Morris in his mouth, however, when he spat him back out again.
"Bleughh!", said Curtis the cat, screwing up his cat face in disgust, "You taste horrible!".
"Thats because I'm covered in Yeast Extract!", shouted Morris, laughing as he ran away.
And then, after Morris caught up with Princess Prunella they both went to see her father the mouse king and, just as he had promised, the King gave Morris a mountain of cheese and his daughters paw in marriage and together, they both lived happily ever after.
