Standing beside the tall sycamore tree,
I am reminded of when I was three
and standing by my mother’s tree trunk legs
gazing up at her face high overhead;
holding on tightly to her tree branch arms
and feeling protected; sheltered from harm.
Then sun pours through the branches for a while
and I’m reminded of my mother’s smile.
