Optical Camouflage (as used by the US Military) Ideas

Optical Camouflage Anti -Poacher Traps – By hiding inside huts or vehicles covered in optical camouflage; wardens on nature reserves will easily surprise and trap poachers thus protecting endangered species.

Cuddly Chameleon Optical Camouflage Toy (This is one of my best ideas I think) – A cuddly toy chameleon that actually does blend into its background.

Magic Levitation Illusion-

A magician stands upon a platform that has optical camouflage on it and, at his command, the platform is raised up.

Optical Camouflage Boxes and Bags-

Are you a hoarder? Do you have a house full of unsightly clutter? Why not put it into an optical camouflage box or bag; stick it in a corner of the room and no one will see it.

Optical camouflage for conjuring:

Disappearing Silk Trick – This magicians silk is normal on one side but has optical camouflage on the other. Simply turn it around to make it vanish; you can also make boxes; balls and other objects that have optical camouflage on only one side and make them vanish in the same way. Futhermore, with an optical camouflage screen on your back you need only turn around to disappear.

Optical camouflage shield- Be both invisible and bullet proof at the same time; carry a bullet proof shield covered in optical camouflage.

Optical camouflage weapon- Carry an optically camouflaged weapon and you will appear unarmed and your opponent will not realise the deception until it is too late. (or, more simply, carry a small piece of optical camouflage, hold a gun behind it and fire through it).

Optically Camouflaged Crawling Robots- These are small optically camouflaged war-robots that crawl across the ground and sneak up on the enemy; they can both attack the enemy and be detonated by remote control.

(A low-tech idea) Optically Camouflaged Pit Traps – Just dig a pit and lay some optical camouflage on top of it.

Optical Camouflage Whip- Disguise a whip with optical camouflage and it will appear to strike out of nowhere.

Magic Portal Illusion – A screen of optical camouflage with a thin slit in it. The magician stands in front of the screen and then slips through the slit; it will appear as if he is disappearing into thin air.

Optical Camouflage Surveillance – Imagine an optical camouflage covered CCTV camera. No one would avoid it because no one would know it was there.

Optical Camouflage Lady Sawed in Half Illusion- A magicians assistant is half covered in optical camouflage while beside her an animatronic bottom half (legs and feet) moves.

Second Levitation Trick – Objects are magnetically pinned onto a board covered in Optical Camouflage.

(A surreal idea) Optical Camouflage Striptease- A woman strips off optical camouflage and, item of clothing by item of clothing, becomes both visible and naked.

Optical Camouflage Net- The perfect way to trap a criminal. Hold the net out in beside you, the criminal won’t see it, then flip it over them covering them with it.

Optical Camouflage anti-theft cover – If thieves/burglars can’t see your expensive items then they won’t steal them,so cover up anything you want to hide in an optical camouflage cover.

Optical Camouflaged Stealing Device- On the other hand, say you had to (for a just cause) steal something. Then a grabbing device covered in optical camouflage would be ideal, allowing you to get near to the object without being seen.

Optical Camouflage Slimming Suit- Make yourself look slimmer by putting optical camouflage into the outline of your dress or, in other words, make your fatness invisible.

Optical Camouflage Puppetry Suit – Now a puppeteer can perform anywhere without spoiling the illusion that a puppet is alive simply by wearing this optical camouflage suit. (It doesn’t matter if the puppeteer doesn’t look invisible as long as they’re invisible enough so that, with attention focussed on the puppet, the audience ceases to notice them).

Instant Vanishing Wand A.K.A Optical Camouflage Umbrella- Open this umbrella in front of you and you vanish instantly because the material its canopy is made out of is optical camouflage. (Warning – avoid using this on windy or rainy days).

Ninja Night Suit – A skin tight full body suit (covering head, hands and feet as well) of optical camouflage for moving about after dark; very useful for ninjas and cat burglars and a great way to vanish if you go out with (similar to H.G. Welles’s invisible man) a mask and clothes over the optical camouflage suit and then simply take them off.

Optical Camouflage Vanisher Box- Some of the faces of this box are transparent Perspex; some are optical camouflage, so that, by rotating the box you can make whatever is inside the box appear to vanish.
