Once, in a happy Kingdom far, far from here, a queen who was expecting a child was visited by the green Goddess of Nature who, with the touch of a rose, blessed the unborn child, saying, "As long as this child never kills another living creature then she shall never die".
And when the child was born, a little girl, because of the blessing, she was called 'Danada' because this, in the language of her people, meant indestructible
And she was a very happy little girl loved deeply by her parents but then, upon her 16th Birthday, her kingdom was attacked by an evil witch called Rassusia who rode upon a flying beast with two heads; the head of a lion and the head of a dragon and with its lion head it roared like thunder and spat out lightning at the armies of the kingdom, then with its dragon head it set fire to its forts and palaces.
And because they could not defeat Rassusias monster, Danadas parents had no choice but to surrender meekly to the witch.
But Rassusia was an evil woman with a heart hard as basalt and, after she had seized power, she had the king and queen put to death.
Unfortunately for her, however, no matter how the evil queen tried to execute the princess, Danada, she would not die and her ministers told her,
"It is the blessing she recieved from the Goddess Nature. As long as she kills no living thing then she cannot be killed".
And so Rassusia had the princess locked in a room full of ladybirds hoping that she would step upon one of them, accidentally, and kill it and,so that she would have to cross the floor of her cell to get it, the queen had all her food and water placed at the back of her cell.
"All she has to do is step upon one, just one little ladybird and the blessing of indestructibility that protects her will be removed", thought Rassusia.
But the Goddess of Nature, looking in through the window of the princess's dungeon saw all the ladybirds upon the floor and her trapped in a corner unable to move and she sent a flock of starlings that flew in through the window of the dungeon and started to eat up all the ladybirds.
And when enough of the ladybirds had been eaten up, Danada was able to walk across the floor to get to the food and water without stepping upon any.
But Rassusia, after discovering what the birds had done devised another plan.
She had a little fish caught alive from the river and put in a jug of water and that jug was the only water that Dannada was given to drink.
"If you get thirsty", she said to the girl, "Take water from the jug; take as much as you want but do remember that if the little fish runs out of water then it will die".
And so the princess, although sometimes she got very thirsty and her throat very dry because it was a hot day, was frightened to drink from the jug incase she took all of the water that the fish needed to live.
But then, the Goddess of Nature, seeing what Rassusia had done, made it rain and Dannada, holding the jug out of the window of her cell, was able to fill it up with water again, saving both her and the little fish.
"Whatever I do", griped the evil Rassusia after seeing Dannada filling up her jug with rain, "Nature comes to help the child".
So Rassusia decided it was a waste of time trying to kill the girl and, instead ordered that she be taken to an island far out at sea and left there.
But while she was on the island Danada found a cave inside of which was a spiral staircase of stone and, walking down the staircase she passed through a wall of fire which, because she could not be killed did not burn her; then she passed through a hail of arrows which, because she could not be killed, did not strike her and finally she passed through a den of lions which, because she could not be killed, did not eat her.
And when she had reached the bottom of the staircase she came to a room where there was an old man whose lower half was a rock.
"I am the man of the rock. I am part of this island and control all things upon it", said the old man, "Who are you child that is so blessed by Nature that she has passed through my fire and my sharp arrows and my wild ravenous beasts without harm".
Then Dannada told the old man all about herself and how she wanted to return home to free her people from the witch Rassusia.
"But she has a terrible monster with two heads and I cannot free the kingdom without defeating that", she said.
The old man pointed to two large rocks that were in the room and one turned into a small shield and the other into a ram with a saddle upon its back.
"Climb upon the flying ram and it will carry you back to your home. Take the magic shield with you and whatever is hurled against you will be repelled", he said.
And so Danada did this and when she took hold of the shield and sat upon the back of the flying ram, it flew up into the air and, with its ram horns, the ram burst through the ceiling of the room and up into the sky beyond, then it flew her back home to her palace as fast as thunder flies.
But when a sentry upon the palace wall, looking through a huge spyglass, spotted Danada on the flying ram approaching, he reported it to Rassusia and she mounted her two headed beast and flew up into the air to face the ram.
Then, meeting Danada in the skies, Rassusia pulled upon the reins of her beast and it roared with its lion head; a flashing lightning bolt flying from the mouth of the lions head towards Danada.
But Danada raised her shield and immediately the lightning bolt turned around in mid air and flew back the way it had come, striking the lions head so that it was blasted from its shoulders.
So then Rassusia dug in her spurs and her beasts other head, the dragons head, screamed out a long jet of white fire; fire so hot that it glowed like white hot metal.
But when Danada raised her shield again, this too turned around and flew back in the direction it had come from and this time the dragons head was struck by its own fire and was burned from its shoulders.
And when both the heads of Rassusias beast were gone, the beast was slain and Rassusia and the heavy beast plummeted into the sea and the evil witch, because she was strapped to its back, was dragged by its weight to the bottom of the sea and drowned.
Now, with the witch and her beast gone, there was nothing to stop the people of Danadas kingdom from rising up and after that Danada was restored to the throne where she ruled for many years to come.
