There was once a monkey who had no friends and he was very lonely.
Then, one day, he found a raft and an oar upon the river and, discovering that he could float upon the raft, got on it and began paddling down the river with the oar.
"I'm sure this will get me lots of friends", he said.
And as he was paddling down the river Monkey saw a Bear.
"Bear!", he called out, "Have you seen my raft isn't it good".
The Bear was very impressed and so Monkey invited him to come and join him on the raft and together they travelled further down the river.
And monkey was very happy now that he had a bear as a friend.
But Monkey thought he could get another friend and so as they passed by a Giraffe who was grazing on the grass that grew on the river bank he called out to her, saying,
"Giraffe. Come and look at my raft. It floats upon the water and I am its captain. Isn't it good?".
And the Giraffe was very impressed so Monkey invited her to come and join him on the raft aswell and, together, he, the Giraffe and the Bear travelled on further down the river.
And monkey was very happy now that he had a bear and a giraffe as friends.
But Monkey still thought he could get one more friend and so then as they were passing by an Elephant who was on the river bank drinking water from the river with her long trunk the monkey called out to her,
"Elephant. Look at my raft. Me and Giraffe and Bear are all taking a trip on it. Isn't it great?".
And just as Bear and Giraffe had been, the Elephant was very impressed so Monkey invited her to come and join him on the raft aswell.
As soon as Elephant stepped upon the raft, however, her weight together with the weight of all the other animals made the raft sink and when that happened all of the animals ended up falling off of the raft into the river.
After that the Bear, the Giraffe and the Elephant weren't friends with Monkey anymore.
