Ask where energy, that cannot be created or destroyed came from and you may get a logical scientific answer.
It came from A
Ask where A came from and you may get another logical scientific answer.
It came from B
Ask again and you may be told
It came from C
And C was caused by D and D was caused by E and E by F and so on.
But this chain of causes could stretch onwards for infinity.
The only way to avoid this infinite chain of causes is to say -
"Behind a veil of physical laws and limitations hides a world where anything is possible, for example God or Magic".
It may seem hard to swallow but how else do you get around the problem of there being no first cause?
Stephen Hawking may say 'Time began' but Time is made of energy and he hasn't explained where the energy, that bundle of energy called a singularity that exploded with a Big Bang, came from in the first place.
And if you think that outside of our universe there are multiple universes then you have to explain where they and, by they I also mean the energy they are made out of, came from.
If the answer is, "Umm? Energy just exists. It didn't come from anywhere" then that is like believing in magic because you are saying something exists thats existence defies rational explanation.
