Pinnochios nose is measured on Monday. It is 5 centimetres long.
The next day it has grown noticably longer but when it is measured it still appears to be 5 centimetres long.
The day after that it has grown so long that it appears to be triple its original size. Yet, again, when it is measured it is still just 5 centimetres long.
Why? (scroll down to see answer below)

Answer: The measuring tape is made from stretchable elastic. Each time the nose is measured the tape is stretched so that 5 centimetres on the tape is the same length as Pinnochio's nose.
