The Slow Race

The tortoise; the turtle and the terrapin

were all very certain they were going to win

a highly peculiar kind of a race;

one to go at the slowest possible pace.

But though each one struggled; they strived and they strained,

their progress, to limit and speed, to restrain

all three of the half shelled amphibians failed.

They were pipped at the post by an old garden snail.
