Summer Music

There’s Bach in the bark covered limbs of the trees
and Beethoven in the hummed hymns of the bees
and the little birds sitting on telephone wires
look like notes on a stave as they twitter in choirs.

And the bright sun beams like a whole brass section
and the lake that's gleaming with its reflection
is like glockenspiels and tambourines and tinkling bells,
then my heart, playing its part, starts to drum as well.
