1. There are 4 six sided dice – An addition dice (Red); A subtraction dice (Blue); A multiplication dice (Green) and a division dice (yellow)
2. Players select a target number that they want to reach, (for example 22) by drawing the number from a shuffled pack of cards each of which has a different number on it.
3. Taking turns, they use the various dice to get to this target number. The first to reach the target number wins.
4. Every time a player wins they keep the card that was drawn (the card with the target number on it) and how many cards they have indicates their score. The first person to get 5 cards wins the game.
5. Because this game may be easier to understand if you see it played, I will give a demonstration of one player playing the game.
The Target Number 16 is drawn from the pack.
Player rolls the multiplication dice hoping to get a 4 because 4 4’s are 16.
He gets a 5 instead. This gives him 20 (because 4 5’s are 20).
So now, because he has to reach the target of 16, he needs to subtract 4 and so rolls the Blue subtraction dice hoping to roll a 4.
He rolls the subtraction dice but gets a 6 instead of a 4 which takes him down to 14 (Because 20 take away 6 is 14).
He needs to add 2 to reach the target and so he rolls the addition dice hoping to get a 2 (because 14 plus 2 is 16).
Success !!– He has managed to roll a 2 which means that he has reached the target number of 16. He keeps the card with 16 on it; he now has 1 point and needs to win 4 more cards (4 more points) to win the game
Game Invention Idea: Aeolian Dice - An aeolian dice is a windmill with numbers on its sails allowing the wind to determine the moves of a game. The sail that is pointing north (or that is closest to north) is the dice roll.
