Why aren't there an infinite ammount of rabbits in the universe?
Why? Because rabbits need to be born and rabbits die. These are factors which limit the quantity of rabbits which can exist.
But energy cannot be created or destroyed. Thus energy can exist without being made and, because it can't be destroyed, its quantity can't be diminished.
So energy has no factors limiting the quantity of energy that can exist. And if it has no factors limiting its quantity thus the quantity of energy that exists must be infinite.
