Watching fireworks

Explosions.
Sky rockets shoot up to the sky
till finally they fall and fade
and die.
Emotions.
Light bursts from childrens eyes;
so wide with wonder and surprise.
I
cry
to see them fill with wonder and surprise
and wonder why
I do not have
their eyes.

there's a typo with 'emmotions'
interesting you see the reflected excitement but for you the emotion isn't spontaneous, the gulf between adult and child is clear. I think of William Blake and his 'mind forged manacles' how we becomes prisoners of ourselves

I liked this – such an event
I liked this – such an event really captures children's simple delight. It's good to be reminded of it, though aware of so much that can hinder that enjoyment now, but let's still have it even though there is much of trouble to cope with! Rhiannon
