Well-Wisher's Variation (Variation On An Old Logic Puzzle With 1 Guard Instead of 2)

There are two doors one that leads to freedom and one that leads to death. You do not know which is which. Infront of them is one guard who may be a liar or may be truthful.
You can only ask the guard one question. What question should you ask to find out which door leads to freedom?
Ask the guard,
"If I asked you if the door on the left led to freedom would you say yes?".
If the guard is truthful and the door leads to freedom then his reply to this would be YES, I WOULD.
If the guard is a liar and the door leads to freedom then his reply to this would be YES, I WOULD because he is lying about the fact that he would say no.
And if it is not the door to freedom, whether the guard is honest or dishonest he should say NO, I WOULDN'T
