The great Doublini (containing some word ambiguities)
The great Doublini heard about a local talent competition and so, exiting his house, he entered it. He appeared in a confident mood and also in a puff of smoke then, as an audience watched, he tapped two magic wands together and made them disappear, then he made the audience reappear and his wands disappear. For his next trick he balanced a child standing on his head then he pulled a rabbit from a hat, then a hat from a rabbit and then a habit from a rat* and finally he said he would catch a bullet in his teeth but, unfortunately, he caught a cold instead and, because he couldn’t stop sneezing, he then caught the number 47 bus and went home.
*Not an ambiguity, just a nice spoonerism
