Turtle Power

I was a turtle in the ocean, swimming fast and slow
My heart would beat fast, and then slow to a trickle
I felt the pressure around me as I dived to the floor,
Then the rush of bubbles as I soared to the shore
It seemed like forever, but time was just a minute
As the countdown approached, I dived deep towards the dark
Then like an explosion from out of the cave
Arose the magnificent fire bird it flew up through the wave
Boiling as it surfaced
My minute was over, we now have a purpose.
Then I ventured in from the dark.
My emotion was left behind, a black stain on my soul
I have built myself a hole
And endured many years of pain, I felt alone and torn in two
I stumbled along the track
Until at last all light had turned black.
This moment seemed an eternity, those likely combatants turned out for service
The ever lasting battle raged on
My pen passed down, my last famous song
My aimless devotion to the self or the race,
The pointless dilemmas over money and gold,
My fued
My love
My treasure
My chief of the tribe,
Take my heart and accept this bribe.
Your corruption is mine, your weakness my strength,
Your hunger can be filled, but your thirst never quenched
