She was the reason I couldn’t sleep;
In a fretful frenzy I paced my room.
In my palm her picture I did keep;
I recalled her face, her sweet perfume.
Scents of roses and sandalwood
Whirled wildly around my head;
Her essence got inside my blood,
Her words of love lay on my bed.
The silver moonlight did slowly seep
In through the bedroom curtain;
Ominous shadows too would creep,
From what, I couldn’t be certain?
Starlight gave a hypnotic charm
Yet, not as spellbinding as she;
In her absence I couldn’t feel calm,
Until we met I wouldn’t feel free.
So, I lay on my bed in a mental fog
Rereading her words of bliss,
Yet, I felt like the proverbial frog
Awaiting my Princesses kiss.
