Amsterdam

No time to lose, got to find a place to hide
No hotels, motels for me, not a dollar on my back
Gonna move way down town to the red lights on a side
No way to kill the chill, not a smoke in my pack
Amsterdam, on a jumbo we land down
Amsterdam, such a fine place to touchdown
The canals, docks and clubs and the dealer’s gambling house
Gonna break my way in through with an old stringless guitar
An old man sipping his wine, not a drop left and he knows
The time, it’s running out, it’s turning much bitter
Amsterdam, on a jumbo we land down
Amsterdam, such a fine place to touchdown
LEAD BREAK
Down in the cloudy park, crazy girls look slim and tall
Still a-dizzy with them drowsy eyes, their skirts are torn and gone
And my jacket hanging loose with a joint to beat the cold
Sitting out and calling names but I’ve no time for fun
Amsterdam, on a jumbo we land down
Amsterdam, such a fine place to touchdown
There’s a ferry with no lights, a couple of kids going wild
No use of saying it’s dead down the jetty and the wind is picking fast
I heard the weatherman say, ‘Amsterdam is pretty mild,’
And an emptiness bear inside, how much longer can I last
Amsterdam, on a jumbo we land down
Amsterdam, such a fine place to touchdown
Amsterdam, on a jumbo we land down
Amsterdam, such a fine place to touchdown
Am…ster…dam!
